Isolated rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at a few places over Rayalaseema. Isolated rainfall occurred over south Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala and dry weather prevailed over north Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are: Nandyal 4, Gooty (Ananthapur dt.) and Kuzhiturai (Kanyakumari dt.) 3 each, Kurnool, Chitradurga, Chickmagalur, Kalasa and Ajjampura (both Chikmagalur dt.) 2 each and Thiruvananthapuram and Sirsi (Uttara Kannada dt.) 1 each.

On Monday, the maximum temperature rose at a few places over south interior Karnataka, and changed little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably above normal at a few places over coastal Karnataka. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, at one or two places over south Kerala, above normal at one or two places over Telangana, rest Rayalaseema, rest coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, rest south Kerala, south interior Karntaka, and were generally normal over the rest of the region.

A number of stations recorded the highest maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius in the region.

FORECAST (valid until Thursday morning): Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Lakshadweep and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over coastal and north interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Forecast (Valid until the morning of 21st April 2005): Isolated light to moderate rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
