ANANTAPUR: Six persons were sentenced for life imprisonment by the Fourth Additional Sessions Court (Fast Track Court) here on Tuesday. They were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 1,500 each or undergo one more year's imprisonment by the Judge, Ramana Naidu. T. Linga Reddy and R. Krishna Reddy of C.C. Kothakota village in Dharmavaram rural mandal were engaged in a group rivalry. On January 17, 2000, Linga Reddy was shot dead by his opponents when he was returning home from the bus stand. While Linga Reddy was killed on the spot, his associates, Gopal Reddy and Ramachandra Reddy, were injured grievously when R. Ravindra Reddy, P. Chandrasekhar Reddy, K. Adi Reddy and Chandramohan Reddy opened fire on them. The judge sentenced R. Krishna Reddy, R. Ravindra Reddy, P. Chandrasekhar Reddy, K. Adi Reddy, D. Anjaneyulu and Chandramohan Reddy to life imprisonment under Section 302 of the IPC, two years' imprisonment under Section 27 of the Arms Act and seven years of imprisonment under Section 25-IB of the Arms Act. The punishment should be implemented at once.
