ANANTAPUR: The Congress Government has evolved Praja Patham programme to give immediate solution to the problems of people like drinking water, wage employment and power supply to the farm sector, according to the Minister for Panchayat Raj, J.C. Diwakar Reddy. Participating in the programme along with the Animal Husbandry Minister, G. Surya Rao, at Chigicherla village of Dharmavaram rural mandal on Tuesday, the Minister suggested several measures to mitigate the drinking water problem and assured villagers that the problem would be solved within a week. Women explained their woes about drinking water and lack of wage employment work.
10 farm ponds sanctioned
On the need for wage employment, the Minister sanctioned 10 farm ponds on the spot. If required villagers could get another 15, the Minister assured. The Minister said several villages in Dharmavaram, Madakasira, Tadipatri, Uravakonda and Rayadurg constituencies were facing severe water problem. Proposals with an estimated cost of Rs. 500 crores were submitted to the Government to overcome the problem in next few years. Later, the Ministers inaugurated additional school buildings constructed at Shanti Nagar in Dharmavaram town.
