ANANTAPUR: The district unit of the Telugu Desam Party has stated that the party will take up an agitation against alleged police excesses against their activists. The party leaders have alleged that the police have been harassing their leaders and activists. Speaking at the party's executive meeting held here on Tuesday the district unit president of the party, U. Hanumantharaya Chowdary, and the Politburo member and former MP, K. Srinivasulu, alleged that two leaders of the Tadipatri constituency, Srinivasa Reddy and Nagarjuna Reddy, were taken into custody by the police on Monday night and were being harassed to give information about illegal arms, while they were not in possession of any such material. They alleged that the police were acting as Congress agents and were harassing TDP activists at the behest of Congress activists.
