CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, announced on Tuesday that all villages in the State would get an assured supply of electricity from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily with immediate effect. The Chief Minister, who reviewed the power situation in a meeting with the senior officers of the Power Department and Power Utilities in Chandigarh on Tuesday evening, said that this "assured'' supply could have a cut of half-an-hour and efforts would be made to inform the people about it. He also announced that within each electricity circle there would be an assured supply of six hours and four hours on alternate days during the day time. He said that during his recent tour of the State, the people had apprised him about the inconvenience being felt by them due to uncertainty in the supply of electricity, especially during night. Mr Hooda said that if any consumer did not get supply according to this schedule, he could lodge a complaint with the Managing Director, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam on phone no. 0172-2572535 and fax no. 0172-2583741 and the Managing Director, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Hisar on 01662-221724 and fax no. 01662-220953.
New connections
CHANDIGARH: The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has decided to streamline the procedure for release of new electricity connections to ensure that these are released within 15 days of applying along with the test report and deposit of necessary charges. The DHBVN Managing Director, Vijayendra Kumar, said that this procedure would be streamlined in a phased manner and to begin with, all application forms for new connections of any category pertaining to the three subdivisions of Hisar would be accepted at the counter set up at Vidyut Sadan, Hisar.The applicant would be informed why the connection had not been released within the stipulated period. In case augmentation or extension of the distributing system was required, the connection would be released immediately.
