R.K. Sharma moves High Court for bail

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW: R.K. Sharma, suspended Inspector-General of Prisons of the Haryana Police and prime accused in the Shivani Bhatnagar murder case, moved the Delhi High Court on Tuesday seeking bail in the case.

When Justice B.D. Ahmed took up the bail application for hearing, the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP), S.K. Saxena, sought time to go through the petition. Allowing his application, Mr. Justice Ahmed fixed May 6 for the hearing. The High Court had in May last year dismissed Sharma's application seeking interim bail due to a back ailment.

Sharma and his five co-accused are facing trial for criminal conspiracy and murder for the killing of the then Indian Express Principal Correspondent, Shivani Bhatnagar, at her East Delhi apartment in 1999.— Staff Reporter
