`I' group forms parallel committee in Kottayam

Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM: The ousted Congress (I) leader K. Muraleedharan today said the final picture on the new political structure would be clear on May 1

at the convention of Congressmen being held in Thrissur.

He was speaking at a meeting of his followers to form a parallel outfit in the district.

Mr. Muraleedharan said the focus of the new outfit would be the forthcoming election of the local bodies. He added that talks about coalitions would have to wait and tactical alliances could not be ruled out to defeat the opponents.

Mr. Muraleedharan said that he was not concerned about leaders joining the opposite camp as the rallies have already shown whom the Congress activists supported.

The chairman of the adhoc coordination committee of the district is K.K. Abraham, who is also the vice-president of the DCC(I). M.G. Sasidharan has been chosen as the general secretary and B. Anil Kumar, the vice-chairman. Mohan D. Babu is the treasurer.

A seven member list of convenors and 21 member adhoc committee has also been set up. The convention also selected 20 block-level chairmen to supervise the work.
