COLOMBO: At least five Tamil rebels were killed in continued factional fighting in eastern Sri Lanka. According to sources, the fighting took place in the eastern Amparai district on Thursday, in an attack by cadres of the Tamil National Force (TNF) led by the LTTE's former special commander, V. Muralitharan (`Col.' Karuna). Reports from the east said at least seven persons were injured in the attack. One person was killed at Valachchenai in the eastern Batticaloa district in intra-rebel fighting.
