Church festival from Saturday

KOLLAM: The annual 14-day festival of Saint George at the Kadavur Saint Casimir Church will be held from April 23 to May 1. The traditional flag hoisting ceremony will be done by the parish priest, Jose Sebastian. The celebrations will begin with a reception for Joseph G. Fernandez, Bishop Emeritus of Kollam.

The Rajya Sabha member, N.K. Premachandran, will inaugurate a free medical camp on April 24. Medical teams from Benziger Hospital, Ozanam Eye Centre and Matha Medical Centre will lead the camp, which begins at 10 a.m.

The former Editor of Janayugam, Thengamam Balakrishnan, will inaugurate a cultural conference in the evening. A seminar on `Women empowerment' will be held on April 25. The couples of the parish who have completed their silver wedding jubilee will be honoured at a function on April 27.

Welcome

The Kollam Bishop, Stanley Roman, will be given a ceremonial welcome on April 30 and May 1. The traditional procession will commence at 10.30 a.m. on April 30.
