KOLLAM: The chairman of the Kerala Congress (B), R. Balakrishna Pillai, will inaugurate a march by the Kerala Youth Front (B) activists to the Kollam Employment Exchange office on Friday. At a press conference here on Wednesday, the district president of the YF(B), Nilamel Sujadudin, said that the march was in protest against the alleged apathetic attitude of the State Government towards the youth. He said the number of unemployed youth stood at 60 lakhs in the State and the figure was rising by the day. Still nothing concrete was being done to solve the unemployment problem. Though the Five-Year Plans were started with the aim of solving the unemployment problem too, no scheme had ever been undertaken, he said. He said a good majority of the youth in the State were a depressed lot due to the unemployment problem.
Employment promise
The UDF Government came to power promising employment for 15 lakh youth. Not only had the Government failed to keep that promise, but many youth had lost their jobs due to the anti-people policies of the Government. The KC(B) general secretary, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, will also address the demonstrators.
