KOCHI: The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president, A.C. Jose, today sought a clarification from the CPI(M) whether its invitation to the `I' faction to oppose the Oommen Chandy Government was part of the decision taken at the Delhi congress of the party. Terming the invitation by the Leader of the Opposition, V.S. Achuthanandan, to the `I' group as unethical, Mr. Jose also wanted the CPI(M) to clarify whether the support was for sabotaging the Ministry alone or it would continue in the upcoming elections. The CPI(M), which failed to forge a tactical alliance with the Indian Union Muslim League earlier, is now aiming to strike an understanding with a section in the Congress. Mr. Jose thanked the senior Congress leader K. Karunakaran for helping to get rid of groupism in the party and making it function as a single unit as the threat of a split in the party, as planned by the `I' faction, made the Congress workers come together for saving it. Mr. Jose questioned the locus standi of the CPI(M), which shelled out Rs.5 crores for its Malappuram conference, to question the source of funds for the regional rallies of the party.
