JCT Mills far too good for its rival

Sports Reporter

KOLKATA: DTDC Tollygunge Agragami slumped deeper into the relegation zone, losing 1-3 to JCT Mills in the IX National Football League at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Thursday.

At the end of the 18th round, the city team was placed 10th among 12 teams netting just 15 points collected from three wins and six draws.

On the other hand, JCT earned its seventh win, tallying 25 points from 18 outings.

Agragami enjoyed some command over the proceedings in the initial stages.

In fact, it had two close opportunities in the first 10 minutes but its forwards, Akeem Abul Alem and wing-half Kabijit Khotel, failed to find the net.

The visitor took over from this place and went ahead in the 16th minute through Manjit Singh off a long-ranger.

The lead was doubled at the stroke of the first half an hour as Sakatar Singh finished a Sukhvinder Singh provision.

JCT continued its dominance in the second session by scoring one more goal in the 73rd minute. Harvinder Singh chanced upon a deflection to complete the visitor's tally.

Agragami found a consolation goal in the 86th minute through substitute Suman Dutta, who did a good job.
