dated April 22, 1955: No opening speech

Prime Minister Nehru and the Burmese Premier, U Nu, have both refrained from making opening speeches at the Afro-Asian Conference, now in session at Bandung. They openly opposed them as a "waste of time" and in early meetings appealed to delegations to "get down to business as soon as possible." However, delegation leaders were allotted 15 minutes each for opening remarks.
