COIMBATORE: : A vehicle check on Nilambur-Madukkarai Bypass Road here on Thursday led to the seizure of 148 cans of arrack, each containing 35 litres. Police said the arrack, valued at Rs. 10 lakhs, was being smuggled from Bangalore to Kerala in a van. When the vehicle was intercepted, the driver and another occupant tried to escape but were nabbed. The cans were concealed under baskets of grapes.
