KOCHI: The Kochi port handled a record 140.95 lakh tonnes of cargo during the financial year 2004-'05. The previous year's cargo throughput at the port was 135.70 lakh tonnes, said a press release here on Thursday.
Container cargo
During the period, the port also handled 1.85 lakh TEUs of containerised cargo. The port also registered higher productivity during last year. It achieved an average berth detention time of 11 hours with an average turnaround time of 2.6 days. During the period under review, 1,126 vessels, including 19 cruise vessels, called at the Kochi port. The port recorded an operating income of Rs. 212 crores and operating surplus of nearly Rs. 66 crores as against Rs. 203 crores and Rs. 60 crores respectively registered during the 2003-'04.
