Power supply disruption

KOCHI : There will be no electricity supply in Perumbadappu and Konam area on Thursday from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on account of electrical line maintenance work. — Staff Reporter

AICTE assistance

KOCHI: The School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS), Cochin, has received financial assistance from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to conduct programmes aimed at enhancing the quality of teachers in management. The AICTE has launched the new scheme for developing IT- enabled teaching in management. The fund will be utilised for upgrading the quality of faculty members. — Staff Reporter

Children's programme

KOCHI: The Community Aid and Sponsorship Programme (CASP) at the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences and Kadamakudy grama panchayat will jointly organise Sneholsavam at Children's Park on Saturday. Around 800 children from the panchayat will participate in the event. Besides staging of cultural programmes, the children will discuss the issue of scarcity of potable water in Kadamakudy on the occasion. — Staff Reporter

Traffic curbs

KOCHI: Vehicular traffic will not be allowed along the sub-way on Edapally-Methanam Road from Friday owing to maintenance work. Traffic will not be allowed for 10 days through the sub-way, according to an official communication. — Staff Reporter

Goshree council demand

KOCHI: The Goshree Action Council has demanded better public-transport facilities to Ernakulam. The chairman of the council, Majnu Komath, said the Regional Transport Authority had not taken any step in this regard despite repeated requests made by the islanders. Private buses from Vypeen, which terminate service near the High Court, should be permitted into the city.

The number of buses to Vypeen should be increased, to help commuters who want to go to Wellington Island, Fort Kochi, Mattanchery and Thopumpady. — Staff Reporter
