BANGALORE: The fifth annual films awards presentation ceremony of Sri Raghavendra Chitravaani, a premier Kannada cinema publicity agency, will be held on May 7 in the city. The agency, which has provided publicity to 800 films in the last 28 years, has selected producer and artiste M.P. Shankar and the veteran journalist and Chairman of the Karnataka Media Academy, V.N. Subba Rao, for its best producer and elder cinema journalist awards, respectively. Director Gitapriya, artiste B. Jayamma and cinema photographer G.S. Naarayana Swamy have been selected for the elder director, elder artiste and elder cinematographer awards, respectively. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan has instituted the elder director award, named after her brother and director, late R. Sheshadri of Yajamana fame. The elder woman artiste award has been instituted by artiste Jayamala. K.M. Veeresh of chitraloka.com has instituted the elder cinema-photographer award after his father, late K.S. Mallappa. Lakshmi Mohan of Dham fame has been selected for the talented playback singer award, named after the playback singer late S. Vijayalakshmi.
