PONDICHERRY: The Local Administration and Fisheries Minister, A Elumalai announced in the Assembly on Thursday that the Administration would increase the subsidy given to fishermen to purchase vans for transport of fish from Rs 1.2 lakhs to Rs 1.8 lakhs. Special communication centres would be opened in the tsunami-hit villages in Pondicherry and Karaikal regions with necessary infrastructure including telephone connections and computer-assisted gadgets.
