Health Officer suspended

BANGALORE:
The Government has placed under suspension Chandrashekar Nayak, District Health Officer, Bangalore Rural district, for his absence during the visit of the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, and the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, to villages in Nelamangala taluk, where 23 people died after drinking illicit liquor, on April 12.
According to a note from the Government, Dr. Nayak did not follow the instructions given to him. The note said Dr. Nayak failed to make arrangements to admit to hospital people who were vomiting after drinking illicit liquor. He also failed to submit a report on the tragedy to the Government, it added.
