Committee to supervise PGCET formed

VTU Vice-Chancellor to head panel

BELGAUM:
A central committee has been formed under the chairmanship of K. Balaveera Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, to ensure the smooth conduct of the postgraduate common entrance test (PGCET) and the seat selection process for admissions to government quota seats in MBA, MCA, M.E. and M.Tech. courses in the State. The vice-chancellors of the other universities will be members.
As per the directions of the Government, the test will be conducted by the PGCET Cell. It will be applicable for courses in university departments, constituent colleges and institutions affiliated to universities for the academic year 2005-06.
Test dates
The tentative dates for the PGCET for admissions to MBA and MCA courses is June 16. The test for M.Tech. courses may be held on July 23 and 24.
There are 2,545 M.Tech. seats in 63 courses in 38 colleges (for details of MBA, MCA seats, see table).
The detailed notification in this regard will be released in the first week of May, the VTU Registrar, M.S. Shivakumar, said here on Friday.
