Following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Friday: Groundnut oil - 51, palmolein oil - 39.75, sunflower oil - 48, tamarind (flower variety) - 21 to 26, tamarind (karipuli variety) - 39 to 46, chillies (new) - 13 to 14, rice (2716) - 12, rice (superfine) - 14, rice (sona masoori) - 16 to 18, rice (samba Masoori) - 15 to 17, black gram 22 to 25, red gram (desavali) - 22.50, red gram (pandiripalem) - 24.50, red gram (Nagapur) - 26.50. — Staff Reporter

No power

Earth Day observed

The officials of the Postal Department, on Friday, observed the World Earth Day. The Vijayawada regional director of postal services, Lalitendu Pradhan, planted saplings at the Speed Post centre in Chandramoulipuram. The senior superintendent of post offices, B. Veerabhadram, the assistant directors of postal services, P. Hanumantha Rao and G. Malakondaiah, were present. — Staff Reporter
