PONDICHERRY: The Union Minister of State for Transport and Highways, K.H. Muniappa, suffered minor injuries when his car hit a roadside tree on Karaikal-Tirunallar route on Saturday. He was admitted to the Government General Hospital at Karaikal. The Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP, V. Narayanasamy, told newsmen here that Mr. Muniappa was going to Tirunallar from Karaikal to offer worship at the shrine of Lord Saneeswarar. The private secretary to the Minister and his security officer also sustained minor injuries and were being treated in the hospital. The PCC leader said a team of doctors, including neurosurgeons, from the Pondicherry Government Hospital, rushed to Karaikal. The Welfare and Industries Minister, M. Chandirakasu, the Deputy Speaker, A.V. Subramanian, and legislators R. Kamalakannan and P.R. Nalamaharajan, called on the Minister at the hospital.
