Says `no' to kanduvas

By Our Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR: The APCC president, K Keshava Rao, has called upon the party rank and file to stop presenting him with the traditional tri-coloured (kanduvas) towels during various functions and instead suggested the leaders to distribute the same amount to the poor on behalf of the party.

The APCC chief made these suggestions when the partymen started offering him towels (kanduvas) and raised slogans hailing his leadership at a public meeting in Sircilla town on Saturday. He said that the distribution of at least 1,000 towels (kanduvas) would cost at least Rs 75,000. With regard to the slogans, he said that "you are the leaders, do not make me a ratha saradhi.'' Quoting the lines of popular poem "Deshamante matti kadoi,'' he said that the party workers and cadres were important for the party and not the leaders.
