Man gets life sentence

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has sentenced a retrenched employee of a private company to life imprisonment, holding him guilty of kidnapping and murdering the son of his employer following disputes over settlement of accounts after the factory at Nangloi in West Delhi was shut down in 1999.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 2,000 on the convict, Ram Kishore alias Chotu, who had kidnapped Sonu, son of his employer, on June 18, 1999, killed him and later dumped the body at a desolate place in the area.

In another judgment, another trial court sentenced three accused to life imprisonment for killing a taxi driver over a trifle issue at the taxi stand outside Ramjas College in North Campus in Delhi University.

The court held Talwinder Singh, a friend of the victim, Havinder Singh, and his two associates Naseem Singh and Kamaljeet, guilty of the charge and also imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000 each on them.
