This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru put the Cominform in the same category as the South-East Asia Treaty Organisation (SEATO) in his speech at the Political Committee of the Asian-African Conference in Bandung, Conference sources said on April 23. "Both are dangerous," Mr. Nehru said. He spoke at the Committee after the Chinese Premier, Mr. Chou En-lai, had outlined his seven-point peace plan. Organisations like the Cominform and SEATO, Mr. Nehru said, could not fit into the pattern of peace. He said he was surprised at the timing of the signature of the Manila Pact. It had been signed so soon after the Geneva Agreement had brought peace to what was the greatest danger area in South-East Asia.
