Letters to the Editor
The manner in which political parties are seeking to make capital of the incidents that followed the Sabarmati Express accident near Vadodara is disturbing. The interest shown in playing politics over the incident involving Lalu Prasad was unfortunately missing in the manner the UPA Government addressed the victims of the accident. The suspension of six railway personnel is an ad hoc measure.
Both the attack on Mr. Lalu Prasad by Sangh Parivar activists, and his allegation against Narendra Modi of instigating the attack are condemnable. From the noise he made over the incidents of stone throwing, it appeared he was trying to cover up his Ministry's failure to ensure safety on trains. He distracted the attention of the nation from the human tragedy to Mr. Modi.
M. Eswara Rao,
Instead of blaming others, Mr. Lalu Prasad should set his house in order. It is unfortunate that he has distracted attention from the main issue and called for the imposition of President's Rule in Gujarat. The UPA Government too seems more worried about the attacks on Mr. Lalu Prasad than about the plight of the victims.
Meravanagi Kotreshi,
The train accident was unfortunate. But the attack on Mr. Lalu Prasad was shameful. It showed that the law and order machinery in Gujarat is defunct.
Sanjay Sahoo,
True, those responsible for the attack must be punished. But the happenings in Delhi show that the leaders are more concerned about Mr. Lalu Prasad than they are about the victims of the tragedy.
B. Sai Karthikeya,
