Appalling

This refers to the rape of a teenager by a police constable inside a police chowki on the busy Marine Drive in Mumbai. It is unfortunate that a person belonging to the law-enforcing agency has himself flouted the law. The incident has cast a shadow on the safety of women in of Mumbai, a city considered very safe for women even at night. An example should be made of the constable to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

Angul, Orissa
