PONDICHERRY: The Pattali Makkal Katchi Parliamentary leader, M. Ramadass, on Sunday received petitions from the residents of Sorna Nagar in Ariankuppam block near here. Mr. Ramadass said the living condition of the people was ``horrible'' due to the presence of a slaughter house in the area. In addition to Sorna nagar, those residing in the vicinity of the colony in Ganapathy Nagar, Ram Nagar, Arunthadhipuram, Niwas Nagar and other hamlets were also put to hardship. He said he got the first hand experience of the living condition of the people in those areas and had asked the officials of the Ariankuppam Commune panchayat to make arrangements to shift the slaughter house to some other place within a week.
