Isolated rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at many places over Kerala. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, coastal and south interior Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over north interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep.

Thodupuzha (Idukki dt.) recorded a heavy rainfall of 10 centimetres.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Vaniyambadi (Vellore dt.) 5, Melur (Madurai dt.) and Bhavani (Erode dt.) 4 each, Valparai, Perinthalmanna (Malapuram dt.) and Mudibidre (Udupi dt.) 3 each, Tiruputtur (Sivagangai dt.), Kozhikode Airport, Kottayam and Madikeri 2 each and Kundhabridge (Nilgiris dt.), Chittampatti (Madurai dt.), Natham (Dindigul dt.), CIAL Kochi, Alapuzha, Cherthala (Alapuzha dt.), Punalur and Mangalore Airport 1 each.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature rose at one or two places over interior Tamil Nadu and changed little elsewhere over the region.

They were markedly to appreciably above normal at one or two places over Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, above normal at one or two places over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, rest coastal Karnataka, appreciably below normal at one or two places over north interior Karnataka and were generally normal over the rest of the region.

FORECAST (valid until Tuesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Kerala, Lakshadweep, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka.
