CUDDAPAH: Thousands of devotees witnessed the celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, performed with religious gaiety and pomp, at the colourfully illuminated Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple at Vontimitta around Saturday midnight. The Rajampet MLA, K. Prabhavathamma, carried `mutyala thalambralu' and silk clothes and presented them to the presiding deities on behalf of the Government. The deities bedecked in jewellery were taken in a procession to kalyanotsavam venue and glittering seated on a silver lion chariot. The chief priest of the 400-year-old temple, Veena Raghavacharyulu, performed the divine marriage.

Later, the deities were taken along the streets of Vontimitta, amidst display of fireworks.
The Collector, Jayesh Ranjan, the DCC general secretary, A. Venugopala Reddy, the mandal president, Subbaiah, and other officials took part.
