NRI-made film in Houston festival

HOUSTON: Dancing in Twilight, a feature film produced by local Indian-American businessman Rakesh Vij, is competing in the Short Film Section of the 38th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival being held here from April 22 to May 1.

The film premiered here on Friday as the opening night film.

Shot entirely in Houston, the movie is about a middle-aged man who struggles to cope with the untimely, tragic death of his beloved wife. The surrounding needs and advances of family and friends ultimately lead him to take the most important decision of his life, taking this slice-of-life drama from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

"We've never done it before in the 38-year history of the film festival," the WorldFest director, Hunter Todd, said about selecting the homegrown feature, adding, "It's a good film, it's well-directed, and it's a good story."

Another film connecting both India and Houston and competing this year is VishwaTulasi, an emotional story of a middle-aged couple recollecting their youthful memories in a fictional village, Sundarapuri, in South India. — PTI
