VIJAYAWADA: NTR University of Health Sciences will hold fresh counselling for admission to post-graduate medical courses here from April 25, that is Monday, at 1 p.m. The university will not follow seat matrix this time as per the recent orders of the High Court. Merit-cum-roster system will be followed, which means that the first ranker, who could not get a seat of his choice previously, will be able to realise his goal. Counselling will be conducted for the Andhra, Osmania and Sri Venkateswara areas simultaneously. The following rankers should appear on the first day-- OC non-service up to 200 and service up to 800, SC non-service 1,000 and service 1,900, BC-A non-service 800 and service 1,350, BC-B non-service 300 and service 1,100, BC-C non-service 500, BC-D non-service 500 and service 1,200, ST non-service 1,600 and service 1,900 and all physically challenged candidates. Since fresh counselling is being held at short notice, university officials have decided to allow candidates to send authorised persons on their behalf. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, R. Sambasiva Rao, told reporters on Sunday that candidates would be allowed to send authorised persons with relevant documents. Replying to a question, he said there would not be any problem for the first ranker in getting a seat of this choice in the fresh procedure.
Classes from May 2
The Government also issued GO No 123 on Saturday paving the way for fresh counselling. All 834 seats will have to be filled in this drive. The Vice-Chancellor said the exercise would be completed before May 1. As per Medical Council of India guidelines, classes will begin on May 2. "May 2 will be their date of joining. Accordingly, they will have to execute the bond. The fee is the same as before and those who have paid it in last counselling need not pay again. Refund will be given to those who opt out of their selected seats and who decide not to join afresh," he added. Dr. Rao said the rule of reservation would be duly followed. The university Registrar, P. Jayakara Babu, the Joint Registrar, R. Shashank, and others were present.
