BANGALORE: Indian Seniors `A' claimed the inaugural Rajiv Gandhi Cup invitation volleyball tournament at the Gandhi Maidan court here under lights. And they did it with a degree of style without dropping a set in the six-team league. In trhe final league encounter the Seniors `A' downed a fighting Junior side 25-22, 25-23, 25-20. Indian Seniors `B' were slow off the blocks. But the introduction of the experienced Arjuna awardee Ravikanth Reddy set the tempo for its 21-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-19 victory over Indian Youth `A' and finish second best. Indian Youth `A' showed speed and flair in good measure. But having pocketed the first set with Pradeep and Sube Singh, spiking hard with short passes and Ashok Kumar coming good with some fine jump serves and backcourt smashes, the Youth slumped in the second set. With Ravikanth Reddy taking charge of setting up play, in place of a inconsistent P. Sundaram, the Seniors B team came back roaring to out-hit the Youth side in the next three sets with comprehensive ease. Indian Seniors were richer by Rs. 30,000 for its efforts.
Earlier, Indian Youth `B' scored its first win over Karnataka 25-15, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20. Karnataka ended up losing all its five matches but did show improvement over the last four days.
Late last night Indian Seniors `A' outplayed Youth `A' 25-20, 25-15, 25-23.
Western Railway (Mumbai) proved far too good in the five-team women's section to pocket the Indira Priyadarshini Cup and winner's purse of Rs. 35,000 with an all win record.
Playing its last two matches in quick succession the Mumbai based Railway girls bt Kerala Youth late last night at 25-20, 25-22, 17-25, 25-16 late last night and then turned up early this morning to humble GKM Foundation Chennai at 25-10, 25-18, 25-20 in quick time.

Men: Indian Seniors `A' bt Indian Youth `A' 25-20, 25-15, 25-23. Indian Seniors `B' bt Indian Youth A 21-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-19; Indian Youth `B' bt Karnataka 25-15, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20.
Women: Western Rly. (Mumbai) bt Kerala Youth 25-20, 25-22, 17-25, 25-16; Western Rly. bt GKM (Chennai) 25-10, 25-18, 25-20.
