Racket in permits detected

BELLARY: Illegal activities such as producing fake permits for transportation of iron ore owing to the unexpected boom in iron ore trading have not only increased but has also spread to other districts too. A couple of months ago, the Sandur Police and the Hospet Police had detected a fake permit racket and arrested 10 persons. Now, the Hospet Police have unearthed another such racket. This time too they have arrested a 10-member gang said to be indulging in producing fake permits of the Forest Department and trip sheets (issued by the Department of Mines and Geology). The arrested persons include some from Chitradurga, Bellary and also from Hospet. The police said the officials of the Forest Department, during a routine checking, came across a fake permit produced by Ranjit Singh Jadeja of Rajasthan and filed a complaint. Based on the complaint, the Hospet Rural Police took up investigation and found that there was a racket of printing fake permits and distributing them among those involved in transportation of iron ore. According to the police, the gang was getting fake permit sheets printed from two printers in Chitradurga. The permit master sheet, compact discs, computer units, rubber stamp and seals have been seized.
