Botsa to vie for BC status to Toorpu Kapus

RAJAHMUNDRY:
The Major Industries Minister, Botsa Satyanarayana, on Sunday assured Toorpu Kapus that he would try his best to get BC status for the community, from which he hails. Addressing a meeting organised by Rajahmundry Toorpu Kapu community's talent and education wing, Botsa said the community, which had a strong base in northern coast of the State, has been deprived of BC status it was not represented properly in the Government in the past.
He announced that he would lead a delegation of the community leaders to the Chief Minister to represent the matter. "Ninety to 95 per cent Toorpu Kapus live below the poverty line. We are asking the Government to accord BC status along with other Kapu sub-sects," Botsa added.
Earlier, the meeting presided by former High Court Judge E. Panduranga Rao and Eyyapu Kurma Rao passed a resolution, requesting the Government to accord BC status to the community.
