CHANDIGARH: As many as 5.09 lakh cases have been decided in Haryana by 2123 Lok Adalats organised so far at various places across the state. Giving this information, Haryana State Legal Services Authority Member Secretary Shekhar Dhawan said a sum of Rs 184 crore had been awarded as compensation in 26,490 motor accident claim cases handled by Lok Adalats. Besides, 655 cases were also settled under Hindu Marriage Act, Section 125 of the Criminal Penal Code and Indian Penal Code, including those relating to bank loans, he said. As many as 18,586 persons had so far been provided free legal services and 1,117 Legal Literacy Camps organised in rural areas and urban slums by the Haryana State Legal Services Authority. - UNI
