CHENNAI: The Centre will set up two institutes of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing at Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development, Gulam Nabi Azad, said here on Friday. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 114.6 crore , he said in his convocation address to the graduates of a private engineering college. The minister said a national programme of human resource development in Information Technology has been drawn to meet the "emerging need for quality manpower." The country must keep pace with the developed nations in the area of futuristic technologies, the Minister said, adding that nano-science and nano-technology have become the virtual prescription for all societal security issues. The Minister awarded degrees to 685 graduates of Thangavelu Engineering College and Thangavelu College of Science and Management.
