Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Pudupet, Korukkupet, Choolai, Sowcarpet, R.K. Nagar, K.K.D. Nagar, Padi, Ramapuram, Mathur, V.O.C., G.P. Road, Santhome, Flower Bazaar, Tiruvottiyur and Besant Nagar on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance.

Blood donation

Twenty-four persons donated blood at a camp held on Sunday at the Reserve Bank of India quarters in Kilpauk. Lions Club of Madras Velachery conducted the camp.

Sixteen persons were selected for free cataract surgery out of 164 who attended a free dental and eye camp held jointly by SMILE and Friends Club of New Washermanpet on Sunday. In another camp, held by jointly by Lions Blood Bank and SMILE, about 30 persons donated blood.

At a camp held on Sunday by Hindu Mission Hospital in a village near Tambaram, of the 215 people screened for various ailments, 13 were advised intraocular lens surgery. Three were referred to the hospital for general surgery.

Bank anniversary

Allahabad Bank's Chennai Zonal office celebrated the bank's 140th anniversary on Saturday. S. Raychoudhuri, deputy general manager, participated in the programme. He said the bank had proposed to open a branch each at Mogappair (East) and Purasawakkam (Tana Street).

Western music

Satya Music School at Teynampet will conduct summer classes in western music for students of all ages from May 2. Participants will be trained in guitar, keyboard and drums. For details contact: John Satya at 98400-38626 or 52175228.

Craft classes

The Family Club will conduct craft classes from Monday. Participants can learn bread craft, stained glass painting, pot embossing and flower making. Chemical and 3D mural making and candle making will also be taught. Children aged four and above can participate.
