Music classes

Introductory classes to classical music will be conducted in the name of `Kala Parichayam' by the M.R. Music and Dance College, Vizianagaram at about 25 centres in and around Visakhapatnam from Monday to June 5. According to the principal of the college, P.V.S. Seshaiah Sastry, some of the centres are located in Bheemunipatnam, Anakapalle, Yelamanchili, Gajuwaka, Steel Plant, Pendurthi, Vepagunta, Penugollu, Dharmavaram agraharam, S. Rayavaram and Lingarajupalem. Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the fee is Rs.50 for the 42-day camp.

There is no age limit and on completion of the camp, the participants would be awarded certificates, he said.

Talk for prisoners

A spiritual discourse by Swamy Krishna Chaitanya and his followers of Nagabharana Ashramam and Sri Rajeswari Peetham was organised for prisoners at the Central Prison on Sunday. After the talk, fruits and sweets were distributed among the inmates.

Jail Superintendent, B. Sunil Kumar, was present.

Awareness programme

A Rythu Chaitanya Yatra will be organised in the district by the Animal Husbandry Department in association with Agriculture Department and other wings from Monday to May 15 to educate the farmers in villages on subjects like management of dairy animals and sheep, poultry farming, disease management in livestock, prevention of zoonotic diseases, and animal welfare. Visakha Institute of Competitions will conduct a month-long summer camp for classes III to X from May 1. Further particulars can be had on telephone no: 9848420782.

Essay contest

The Visakha Film Society will conduct an essay contest for all age groups on review of Telugu films released during 2004. Interested may send entries not exceeding four pages on best family movie, popular movie, best actor, actress, villain, comedian, music director, lyrics, etc., to the president of the society, G.E. Varma, 1-113-10/1, Sector 8, MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam-17, on or before May 14.
