VISAKHAPATNAM: A day before the bandh call given by the CPI (Maoist) to protest against Gunukurai encounter, naxals blasted the Zilla Parishad Guest House at Chintapalle, about 150 km. from here, on Sunday. Despite tight security in all the naxal strongholds, about 20 Maoists came to the guest house, planted landmines and set it off about 7.30 p.m. Police said that the building was completely damaged. The guesthouse was vacant at the time of blast. The blast created panic among the villagers, who ran helter skelter. Earlier, the Maoists blasted a check-gate at Sileru and attacked a wine shop in G.K. Veedhi mandal.
