Raise Bar standards, law students told

HYDERABAD: The former Judge of the Supreme Court, B.P. Jeevan Reddy, on Sunday stressed the need for students passing out of national law schools to enter the profession and raise standards of the profession. He was addressing students from 15 of the best of law schools in India, including two from Sri Lanka at the valedictory of the regional and India rounds of Commonwealth Moot Competition 2005, organised by the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) and hosted by the NALSAR University of Law.

Suhrut Parthasarathy of Kolkata got the Best Speaker award in the India round, while Manohara Jayasinghe was adjusted the Best Speaker in the South Asia round. The team from National Law University, Jodhpur got the Best Memorials (arguments) title. The West Bengal National University of Judicial Sciences, Kolkata and the Sri Lanka Law College team excelled in the India and South Asia rounds, respectively.
