5-year-old girl falls into sump, dies

A five-year-old girl, Navya, who sustained injuries after accidentally slipping into a sump on Friday, died in the early hours of Sunday while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital. The girl was loitering in front of her house at Balaiahnagar near Old Safilguda when she slid into the sump.

Fake passport seized, man held

Babu Rao, 35, who flew from Dubai to the city allegedly with forged travel documents on Sunday, was arrested at Begumpet airport.

A native of Nizamabad district, Rao told the police that he went to Dubai four years ago. As his employer retained his passport, Rao paid 1,200 dirhams to a travel agent there and secured a passport that was in the name of Satyam. He substituted Satyam's photograph with that of his and returned to the city.

IDL employee's cash stolen at bank

Three unidentified youngsters, all in their early twenties, snatched away Rs. 9,000 from an IDL employee, E. Krishna Swami, while the latter was counting money at State Bank of Hyderabad branch at Anandnagar Colony in Khairatabad on Saturday. Two killed in road accidents

Two persons were killed in road accidents at Madhapur and Saroornagar. A resident of Borabanda, J. Kumar, 27, was returning home from Shilparamam on his scooter when a tipper hit his vehicle at Nagarjunanagar on Saturday night, the Madhapur police said. He died in the early hours of Sunday.

A centring worker, Jaya Narsimha, 35, of Saroornagar, was going to Champapet on a scooter when a lorry hit him from behind resulting in his instantaneous death.

Computer material seized

The Chikkadpally police recovered 22 stolen CPUs, keyboards and other hardware, worth Rs. 1.8 lakhs, within 24 hours of receiving complaint on Sunday.

A computer godown owner approached them saying an unidentified person took away the property from the godown. After inquiries, the Inspector, V.N.V. Satyanaryana, raided the rented house of the godown worker, Sandeep Ganguly, at Tukaramgate and recovered the property.
