BANGALORE: On his 77th birthday, Kannada thespian Dr. Rajkumar was raring to have another go at acting. "I am healthy because of the love and affection of the people. If everything goes well, I am ready to act again," he told his fans who had gathered in large numbers in front of his residence. Like every year, hundreds of the thespian's fans had gathered in front of his Sadashivanagar residence to wish their hero on Sunday morning. The actor responded by cutting a birthday cake and distributing it to one and all. By his side were wife, Parvathamma Rajkumar, sons Raghavendra Rajkumar, Puneet Rajkumar, and Shivarajkumar. In the midst of all the celebration, a visibly joyous Dr. Rajkumar told presspersons that he is recovering and will consider acting again once he is fully recovered. "I am keen to act in the film Bhaktha Ambarisha. The desires are as big as a mountain. But if all desires are realised, why should He be there," he said in a philosophical tone. The Karnatandhra Lalitkala Academy chairman, K. Veeresham, secretary, Krishna, actor Saikumar and other office-bearers of the academy garlanded the matinee idol and wished him good health. There were representatives of Dr. Rajkumar Abhimanigala Sangha from its branches spread across the city. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, wished the actor on phone and sent him a bouquet of flowers. He could not attend the function as he was already on his way to participate in the 98th birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Shivakumaraswamy of Siddaganga Mutt, Tumkur.
