Intermediate results CD bone of contention

HYDERABAD:
Media personnel were at it again.
Till then, they were yapping with the officials of the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), all the while the eyes rooted to the packets in their hands. The clock was ticking away and the wait was for the Minister for Higher Education, Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao, to declare the results.
Even as he took the mike and uttered the word, `declared', the bonhomie went dead. A section of media personnel who till then were making polite conversations with the officials pounced on them. Fisticuffs and frayed tempers followed, this time even more animatedly among the media personnel.
The packets containing the CD of results and the summary were reduced to pieces as television crews trained their cameras on the melee ignoring the Minister announcing the results.
Brisk business
Later, media personnel complained to the Minister about the shabby arrangements in disbursal of the results while officials contended that the method was foolproof and could have gone off well, but for the overzealousness of the mediamen.
Internet centres made brisk business with students making a beeline to them to know their results. The BIE made available the results on 11 web addresses.
