Pathanamthitta boys win

KOLLAM: Pathanamthitta won the boys' title in the 29th State junior basketball championship, which concluded at the QAC floodlit court here on Sunday. In the final, Pathanamthitta edged out Alappuzha 77-76.

Prolific scorer Prajith Prabhakar once again came good for the champion as he top scored with 20 points. Vishnu S. Nair (19) and Nelson Jose (10) were the other prominent scorers for the winner.

For Alappuzha, Kevin John played his heart out, scoring 26 points. Tomsy Tommy (15) and Thomas Joseph (13) complimented Kevin's effort.

The results:

Final: Pathanamthitta 77 (Prajith Prabhakar 20, Vishnu S. Nair 19, Nelson Jose 10) bt Alappuzha 76 (Kevin John 26, Tomsy Tommy 15, Thomas Joseph 13).

Loser's final: Thiruvananthapuram 49 (V.S.Manu 15) bt Thrissur 30.

Semifinal: Alappuzha 78 (Rahul Krishna 27, Thomas Joseph 19) bt Thiruvananthapuram 61 (Jubin Johnson 15, Aneesh 14); Pathanamthitta 58 (Prajith Prabhakar 14, Nelson Jose 13, Vishnu S. Nair 11) bt Thrissur 32.
