Stock-taking: The MP, Kotla Jayasuryaprakasa Reddy and his supporters at the broken statue of Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy at Kodumur on Monday.
KURNOOL: The Kurnool MP, Kotla Suryaprakasa Reddy, sought a high-level probe into the disfigurement of the statue of Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy at Kodumur on Sunday. Mr. Suryaprakasa Reddy, who arrived from Delhi today, visited the place and examined the statue. Addressing the gathering, he said the police should inquire into the matter and deploy forensic experts, as the argument of a mentally challenged man trying to damage the statue was unbelievable. He asked the police to summon the sculptor from Tenali to gauge the strength used to damage the statue.
Sabotage suspected
Mr. Reddy suspected sabotage and asked the police not to treat the incident casually to avoid embarrassment but probe the matter deeply. Senior Congress leader, Kodanda Reddy, the DCC secretary, M. Sudhakar Babu, and others accompanied the MP. A large crowd also gathered at the place. Meanwhile, the Minister for Lift Irrigation, M. Mareppa, Sikhamani, MLA, and others condemned the incident describing it as an uncivilised act.
