Correspondent
CHITTOOR:
The bridge constructed with iron rods across Chittoor River near Iruvaram on the Chittoor-Palamaner road, 3 km from here, collapsed on Monday after a lorry-laden with electrical transformers passing over it. One person was died on the spot and five others were injured in the accident.
The lorry belonging to ABB Multinational Company, Baroda, with 120 tonnes of electrical transformers, was passing over the bridge, transporting the consignment to the 400 KV sub-station at Chittoor.
The bridge constructed with iron rods was opened in 1933 by the then Chief Minister of Madras.
