HYDERABAD: In a first of the kind recovery made from the Maoists, the police stumbled upon rocket launchers in Anantapur district recently.

They were among the huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive material which were recovered from Maoist dumps in the Nallamala forest across Kurnool and Prakasam districts to be displayed here by the DGP, Swaranjit Sen, on Monday.

The recovery was made from 13 dumps in Prakasam and three in Kurnool districts during intensified combing of the forest by the police. In reply to a question, he said the police could not establish nexus between factionists and the Maoists going by the recovery of weapons in Anantapur. Mr. Sen hoped to organise soon a much larger exhibition of weapons and other material which may be recovered as a result of sustained combing by the police.
