Occupy lands, urges Raghavulu
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
The CPI (M) Polit Bureau member, B.V.Raghavulu, has called upon the AP Agricultural Workers' Union to occupy lands by mobilising the poor in a big way, if the Government fails to solve the land issue.
Addressing the State Executive of the union here on Monday, he said that though the Government had announced the second phase of land distribution, many laws came in the way. The poor would not get land unless the Acts were amended.
He said the Government had only made a token distribution in the first phase by giving pattas for lands, which were already being cultivated, and washed off its hands.
The land problem had to be solved if the lives of 40 per cent of the poor in the State had to change.
Seed problems
Addressing a meeting of the AP Seed Growers' Association, veteran CPI (M) leader, Koratala Satyanarayana said the seed sector was facing a crisis. Quality seeds were not available due to policies of Governments.
The meeting demanded legal protection to seed growers from companies.
