HYDERABAD:
A racket of fake visa documents was busted with the arrest of a retired bank employee and a history-sheeter of Dabeerpura police station by the Hyderabad Police Task Force (South) team on Sunday.
A former accountant of State Bank of Hyderabad, Shaik Abdul Rasheed, 58, and a history-sheeter, Alam Ali Khan, 62, were rounded up after a raid on the former's house at Kurramguda in Madannapet, according to a press release. A computer with scanner and copier and a number of fake certificates were recovered from them.
The duo was allegedly preparing fake income certificates, bank balance statements, property assessment documents and experience certificates of reputed companies and selling to persons attending interviews before the US consulate to secure visas. Two rubber stamps of SBH Malakpet and Dilsukhnagar branches were also seized.
During his service, Rasheed came in contact with one Raju of Tamil Nadu who frequently used to take demand drafts in favour of US Consulate to attend visa interviews. Raju handed over the fake seals and certificates to Rasheed before leaving for America. Due to financial problems, Rasheed took voluntary retirement in 2001 and started selling the fake certificates to the persons attending visa interviews.
